Bugis and Kampong Glam are one of the few neighbourhoods in Singapore that have retained their rich cultural heritage.
The clusters of colourful shophouses are a testament to their history that dates back to the 1800s. ‘Kampong’ means village, while ‘Glam’ refers to the cajeput trees that once filled Bugis Street.
The Bugis area, where Bugis Junction is located, is named after the Bugis, a Malay sub-group with origins in South Sulawesi (Celebes) in Indonesia, and once well known for their seafaring and warring skills. In the 1820s, a treaty was signed to provide funds to bring the Muslim community to this area. The Masjid Sultan was then built for the people and today, it is one of the biggest landmarks within the district.

This Javanese Chic hotel is situated at the heart of Kampong Glam. Now, many consider the Malay conservation district to be the most vibrant among its peers, for it has successfully found a delicate balance between its youthful vibrancy – through its artistic diversity – and its historical heritage.
There are 6 room categories to choose from – wind down in either our Studio Single (No Window) Apartment or chill out in our Loft Apartment which comes with a private balcony overlooking Kampong Glam.
